Exploring Apology Strategy by Indonesian Public Figures: A Pragmatic Study in Social Media

<p class="5AbstrakIsi">Public figures tend to use social media platforms apologize in public<del cite="mailto:Author"></del> due its practicality and effectiveness. Although public apology as a phenomenon has been extensively studied the English-speaking world, Indonesian apologies have less attention from linguists management scientists. This paper examines speech act of apologizing made by Public Figures 2020 analyzing <ins cite="mailto:Author"></ins>videos collected YouTube. The data study was analyzed based on Murphy’s framework formulate (2015). Findings include cite="mailto:Author">that prefer all</ins> three categories strategy: explicit, conventional-indirect, non-conventional-indirect strategies. Mover, explanation, account, or excuse become most frequent used express their apology.
